Baby Room
2 to 4 Room

We provide a happy and warm environment with lots of cuddles and attention for all our babies with lots of praise and encouragement. We provide a range of resources and activities which are age appropriate and suitably challenging. Each day the nursery is set up with activities to meet all six areas of learning as outlined by the Early Years Foundation Stage. Your child will have the chance to engage in:

All our babies go outside to play in the garden which has a soft surface, ideal for them at each stage of mobility. We have an excellent selection of toys to encourage the children to develop their motor skills, exercise and have fun.

  • Sensory play – we use a range of malleable substances, such as water, sand, bubbles, jelly, cornflower etc.
  • Creative play – finger painting, colouring, sticking etc.
  • Physical play – Dance, soft climbing frame etc.
  • Musical play – Singing, instruments etc.
  • Heuristic play – treasure baskets with natural objects.
  • Constructive play – building towers and knocking them down again.
  • Stories.

In the baby room we are able to follow the routines that your child is used to at home, allowing them to sleep and have bottles when needed. As your child grows, we find the babies’ routines synchronize, enabling them to eat together, have sleeps and quiet times together, then play and socialise together.

All children have their own diary so that you can read all about your child’s day, we document; sleep times, food consumption, nappy changes and activities your child has enjoyed each day.

Once your baby is confident and ready for the next stage, we will be encouraging them to mix with the older children. We discuss this with you and give each child ‘taster’ sessions on the big side during a morning or afternoon before moving up completely. In advance of the transition, the new key person will find opportunities to spend time with your child i.e. during a set activity or snack time to allow them to become familiar with one another. Also both key persons liaise with each other to share fundamental information about the child.

Our minimum sessions for babies are 2 full days per week.
